Karen S. Barker
RMT, BSc (NANS), BA, DO (MTP)
Karen began her career as a Massage Therapist in 1990, owning and operating the North Wellington Massage Therapy Clinic in Fergus, Ontario.
After learning about the benefits of Osteopathy, Karen went back to school in 2001 and graduated with two Diplomas in Osteopathy (Manual Theory and Practice); one from the Osteopathic College of Ontario and the other from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy and Holistic Health Sciences. Karen has been clinically trained in Pediatric Osteopathy through Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan.
Karen is a member of the Ontario Association of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners. This Association is recognized by all Insurance Companies that cover osteopathy.
Karen found that being in the holistic field attracted clients who were more aware of non-medical methods such as self-administering herbal products available at health food stores. To learn about the science behind these products, and to understand better their benefits and risks, Karen decided to go back to university, and she completed a degree in Nutraceutical Science at the University of Guelph. Nutraceutical science is the study of vitamins, minerals, herbs, and functional foods that can benefit the body. Part of her practice is counselling clients on their nutraceutical intake, their benefits and risks.
After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree Karen went on to receive a Degree in Arts (Philosophy and Psychology).
Karen opened her new clinic in 2010 and her primary practice continues to be Osteopathy.
